I had to come up with something to replace that ridiculous Tiramisu story, here are some of the stories I’ve been reading online (in the medical/health genre):
Headline: “Exercise can treat cardiovascular disease as well as prevent it”
Story: A number of studies have recently found that as well as being good for preventing the possible onset of heart disease, people who have coronary artery disease can reduce the risk of having a heart attack, and/or the severity of their heart disease.
One author concluded: “”I would be happy if I could convince everybody with coronary artery disease to participate in a moderate exercise program,” he said. He recommends patients stick to the professional guidelines by exercising three or four times a week, 30 minutes per session, at moderate exertion.”
Headline: “Can Eating Vegetables Prevent Lung Cancer?”
Story: If you smoke, you know you’re putting yourself at increased risk of lung cancer. But if you boost the variety of fruits and vegetables that you eat, you may be able to lower those odds a bit. “smokers who consumed the greatest variety of fruits and vegetables lowered their risk of developing lung cancer by 23% over the study’s nearly nine year follow up. With every different type of fruit and vegetable they ate, they dropped their cancer risk by another 4%”
Headline: “Smoked Medical Cannabis May Be Beneficial as Treatment for Chronic Neuropathic Pain, Study Suggests”
Story: “A new study provides evidence that cannabis may offer relief to patients suffering from chronic neuropathic pain”. What is neuropathic pain you ask (hoping that you might have it, and that you might thus be able to score a little green stuff…). It is defined as “shooting and burning pain, numbness and tingling”.

If you fall into this category, approach your doctor with a printout of the article, who knows, you might get lucky…
