About Chris

I have been a Registered Osteopath and Member of the Australian Osteopathic Association since 2002. My Bondi Junction clinic is a family-oriented practice that seeks to help people of all ages with all conditions.

I work with people to help them identify the postures, habits and tasks in their everyday life that, over time, build up and develop into problems. I use a combination of treatment techniques tailored to your particular needs and select exercises and stretches that will help prevent relapses.

I am consulted for a wide range of problems. I have experience with all common musculoskeletal complaints such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, repetitive strain injuries (RSI) and nerve impingements.

My first degree in Sports Science, work on the Medical Staff of the Australian Athletics Team and as a Fitness Trainer with Tennis NSW (as well as all the injuries I have personally suffered) has given me a thorough background in sports injuries and their management.

At the other end of the spectrum, I have co-authored a paper outlining a treatment approach for pregnant women, written content for motherhood websites and spoken at conferences, schools, new mum groups, and national sporting associations.

My post-graduate education has focused on training in the development and implementation of more gentle cranial techniques. These are suitable for any age and condition, but particularly for babies and children. I have completed all 9 Phases of the BioDynamic Approach to Cranial Osteopathy run by Dr James Jealous and was fortunate enough to work for 15 years alongside Dr Roman Maslak and Dr Peter Kash who both had 40 years experience working in Bondi Junction specialising as cranial osteopaths.

Combined with more direct techniques aimed at improving structural mobility and performance in everyday tasks, alleviating pain and restoring pain-free function, I am able to customise a treatment style to select which techniques will suit your particular condition.

Qualifications:

I was trained in Australia where after completing 8 years of full time university study I was recognised as a Doctor. Subjects studied extensively include anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, rehabilitation, general medical diagnosis and Osteopathic diagnosis and treatment.

I was trained to be an Osteopath in Sydney at UWS, where I completed Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy) and Master of Osteopathy degrees. My previous education had been a Bachelor of Sports Science (Exercise Science) at UNSW.

Postgraduate Study: Treatment of Newborns

I have completed a total of 12 post-graduate courses focused on treatment techniques appropriate for children and newborns. Most of these courses are 4 days long and involve a combined theoretical and practical approach. This means that in addition to in depth study of paediatrics, we do numerous practical technique sessions implementing these techniques.

High Performance History:

During my Sports Science degree I majored in Exercise Science, which involved studying the physiology of sports injuries and biomechanics, and included a placement with the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) Biomechanics department. I also worked for a while as the fitness coach at Tennis NSW.

I have completed several national and international championships placements with the Australian Athletics Team, and been hired by a US based track squad to work with them on the Diamond League Athletics Circuit and help them prepare for the World Championships. I have treated numerous World and Olympic champions in track and field and professionals in other sports.
