In carrying out treatments, Osteopaths can call upon what is probably the largest range of techniques used in any manual therapy. These include:

Massage and Stretching techniques, to address soft tissue restrictions;

Articulation techniques, in which joints are mobilised by being passively taken through their range of motion;

Muscle Energy Techniques, in which contracted muscles are released by alternately being stretched and made to work against resistance;

Counterstrain techniques, which achieve release of restriction by placing the affected joint or muscle in a position of comfort, while applying a “Counter” stretch to the antagonists of the tight muscles;

Joint Manipulation, where it is appropriate and safe to do so, may be used in conjunction with other techniques, at your discretion. Osteopathic manipulations are carried out using minimum force levels in order to maximise safety and minimise patient discomfort.

Cranial Techniques, which work with the cranial rhythm inherent in the nervous system. I have completed all 8 levels of the BioDynamic Approach run by Dr James Jealous and work alongside Dr Roman Maslak and Dr Peter Kash who have both been practising for 30+ years in Bondi Junction, specialising in cranial osteopathy.

These are normally employed together with Dietary, Postural, and Occupational Advice, as well as Home Exercises to help you recover from illness and injury. I realise that everyone is different and I approach each individual accordingly.

I utilise a holistic approach which means I will look at your body as a whole. I may assess and treat seemingly unrelated or distant body parts if I believe them to be involved in your overall presentation. It’s my experience that there are 2 types of problems in your body: the one’s you feel, and the one’s you don’t. It’s my job to look at both of them.
